Overview

Step-by-step instructions on how to add a Java site exception for a device running Windows or Mac OS.

To add a security exception to Java in Windows, do the following:

1. Do one of the following:

a. Windows 7/Vista: Click Start > Control Panel.

b. Windows 8.1: On the Start screen, type Control Panel > click Control Panel.

c. Windows 10:  Click start > Type Control Panel in the search bar > click Control Panel in the search results.

2. Locate the Java icon and open it. To find the Java icon, do one of the following:

a. Click Programs > click Java 32-bit.

b. Enter Java in the search box in the upper-right corner of the Control Panel window and press Enter. Then click Java 32-bit.

3. Click Edit Site List... under Exception Site List on the Security tab.

4. Click Add

5. Type in the URL of website that requires the exception then hit Enter then click OK.

6. Verify the site was added by checking to ensure the site was added to the list below Exception Site List .

7. Click OK again to close the Java Control Panel window.

To add a security exception to Java in Mac OS X, do the following:

1. On the Finder menu bar, click Go > Applications.

2. Double-click System Preferences.

3. Double-click the Java icon located at the bottom of the System Preferences window.

4. Click Edit Site List... under Exception Site List on the Security tab.

5. Click Add

6. Type in the URL of the website that requires the exception then hit Enter then click OK.

7. Verify the site was added by checking to ensure the site was added to the list below Exception Site List.

8. Click OK again to close the Java Control Panel window.
